How to create and apply discount codes

Configure the rules, share a code, and let buyers see the discount before they pay.

  1. 01

    Configure the coupon

Choose a percentage or a fixed amount. Fixed discounts need currency amounts. Set products, subscription duration, and expiry when creating the coupon in the dashboard, API, or SDK.

    Launch offer · 20% off
  2. 02

    Register and share promotion codes

Create codes linked to your coupon, then share them by email, community, creator campaigns, or purchase links. A code string alone does not create an active promotion.

  3. 03

    Apply it at checkout

Buyers enter a code or open a link with a preset offer. Checkout validates the rules and displays the discount before payment.

A FEW GOOD QUESTIONS

Coupon and discount code FAQs

What is the difference between a coupon and a promotion code?

A coupon defines the amount, type, and duration of a discount and has its own checkout code. A promotion code is a registered buyer-facing code linked to a coupon and can add its own redemption conditions. Several codes can share one coupon.

Can I use discounts for one-time purchases and subscriptions?

Yes. One-time purchases receive the discount on that payment. Subscription discounts can apply once, for a set number of periods, or every period until the coupon expires. Free trials do not consume discount periods. Paid trials use the discount and count toward its duration.

Can I use a test code at a live checkout?

No. Coupons and promotion codes are isolated by store and environment. Use test codes in test mode and live codes for live payments.

Can buyers change or remove a code?

When code entry is available, buyers can enter, change, or remove a code, with validation each time. A server-applied coupon and a product link’s discount are locked. A server-prefilled promotion code can be changed or removed when the merchant enables code entry.

Can I generate a code and start sharing it immediately?

A generated code is only text. First create a coupon and register the promotion code against it in your store. Configure eligibility, limits, environment, and currency amounts for fixed discounts before sharing it.
