How the calculation works
For a charge A, the estimated fee is A × r + $0.30, and the amount after processing fees is A − (A × r + $0.30). The base percentage rate r is 2.9%. Applicable additions are 1.5 percentage points for an international card, 1 for currency conversion, and 0.5 for manual card entry. To receive a target amount N, calculate (N + $0.30) ÷ (1 − r). Displayed USD results are rounded to cents and remain estimates.

What is the Stripe fee on a $100 payment?
For a standard US domestic card payment at 2.9% + $0.30, the fee is $3.20 and the amount after processing fees is $96.80. This example excludes international cards, conversion, manual entry and other Stripe products.
How do I reverse-calculate Stripe fees?
Select the reverse mode and enter your target amount after processing fees. The tool calculates (target + $0.30) ÷ (1 − the applicable percentage rate). It estimates an amount to charge; it does not determine whether a customer surcharge is allowed.
How much extra does an international card cost?
Under the standard US card rates modeled here, an international card adds 1.5 percentage points. The base card rate therefore becomes 4.4% + $0.30 before any other applicable charges.
When should I include currency conversion?
Enable the conversion option when the payment requires currency conversion under Stripe’s standard US pricing. It adds 1 percentage point in this estimate. An international card does not automatically mean conversion is required; choose each option based on the transaction.
What does manually entered card mean?
It means card information is manually entered rather than collected through the standard customer payment flow. The listed US pricing adds 0.5 percentage points for manually entered cards. Enable this option only when it applies.
Are Stripe Billing and Stripe Tax included?
No. This tool estimates card processing fees only. Billing, Tax and other Stripe products may introduce additional charges, and their fees are not modeled here.
Does this cover refunds, disputes or payouts?
No. Those services have their own terms and possible charges. The result is an estimate after the selected processing fees, not an account balance, bank payout or guaranteed profit.
Can I use this for any country or pricing agreement?
No. This calculator uses standard US card pricing and USD amounts. Different merchant countries, payment methods and negotiated rates require the applicable pricing. Refer to your Stripe agreement and transaction records for the exact fee.
